Transfer Students

Admissions

As the top public university in New England, the University of Massachusetts seeks to enroll exceptional applicants from all backgrounds and welcomes transfer students to its campuses. In fact, 23 percent of incoming undergraduates at UMass are transfer students.

UMass offers a number of resources for prospective and enrolled transfer students. The Commonwealth Commitment allows students from Massachusetts to significantly lower the cost of a bachelor’s degree by beginning at a community college and transferring to a four-year campus. This commitment manifests in the Mass Transfer Program, which guarantees admission to UMass for community college students who graduate with a 2.5 GPA in designated programs.
