UMass Amherst offers the only Women, Gender, Sexuality Studies Ph.D. in New England. The program enrolls four students every other year to partake in rigorous interdisciplinary scholarship and research preparing students for innovation and critical thought with respect to culture and policy related to race, gender, sexuality, and political economy.
