Courses and resources in the engineering program provide hands-on project opportunities that complement our rigorous computer systems engineering and electrical engineering curricula. One consequence I've noted over the recent past is the increased desire of our undergrads to participate in nationwide competitions such as the IEEE Micromouse Contest and to organize and lead one of the largest regional hackathons HackUMass.
