English

UMass Boston

The MA graduate program in English encompasses both traditional and innovative approaches to English studies. It is a comprehensive degree, offering four areas of concentration: literature, composition, pedagogy, and creative writing. Students often create an integrated program of study that includes courses from two or three of these concentrations. All MA students engage with the imaginative worlds that texts create--worlds created and shared by literary authors, analytical writers, responsive readers, and reflective thinkers. All MA students are trained to be teachers, scholars, and writers, among many other pursuits.
