The UMass Amherst Historic Preservation Program, part of the Department of Architecture, offers a unique opportunity for advanced study in historic preservation at this major public university, with the benefits of the first public Master of Architecture program in New England, a leading Public History program, and significant faculty in areas of material science, landscape architecture, and building construction technology. Beginning in the spring of the second year of the Master of Architecture program, students will begin to use elective slots to take required preservation courses. Depending on the level of background, students may complete the preservation program requirements with one or two additional semesters.
