Julie Bowditch, advancement officer for community fundraising at UMass Medical School and UMass Memorial Medical Center, has been named one of the Worcester Business Journal’s 40 Under Forty Class of 2019.
Bowditch, who joined the Office of Advancement in 2012, was promoted to advancement officer last year and has increased the community fundraising program by 85 percent. She helped raise a record-setting $2 million for the 2018 UMass Winter Ball and was a member of the 2019 John Hancock Boston Marathon charity team for the UMass ALS Cellucci Fund, which brought in more than $100,000.
As a former special educator, Bowditch remains committed to the special needs community, volunteering for several organizations. She was named the 2015 Making A Difference Award recipient by the Worcester autism services agency HMEA’s Autism Resource Central.
