UMass Amherst graduate programs receive national recognition in U.S. News & World Report rankings

Graduate programs in several science and social science disciplines at the University of Massachusetts Amherst rank among the best in the nation in fresh rankings featured in the U.S. News & World Report 2021 edition of Best Graduate Schools, which was released in March.

This year, U.S. News published new rankings in several program areas including public policy. The School of Public Policy is now at 65th for graduate studies in public affairs.

Rankings of other graduate programs were not updated this year, but they were republished in the new guide. They include:

Fine arts program (89).

In the sciences—biology (54), chemistry (52), computer science (20), artificial intelligence (11), earth sciences (46), mathematics (55), physics (56), statistics (74).

In the social sciences and humanities—English (57), history (44), political science (56), psychology (53), sociology (30). Within sociology: sex and gender (6), sociology of population (13).

The School of Public Health and Health Sciences: (32).

In health—audiology (30), speech language pathology (39), clinical psychology (50).
