The School of Public Health and Health Sciences (SPHHS) has announced the appointment of Christopher Greenfield as its new associate dean of administration and finance. Greenfield brings 16 years of strategic leadership experience to the school, most recently as the administrative director of primary care at Baystate Health in Springfield.
“Chris’ focus on partnered leadership, strategic programming and open communication will provide tremendous value to the school,” says Dean Anna Maria Siega-Riz. “Chris has been successful in building tight-knit teams, and leading programs towards progressive goals as well as implementing programs that creatively match structure, communication and drive with compassionate leadership qualities at every level -- from leaders to team consensus.”
At Baystate Health, Greenfield managed ten clinical practices and led administration and growth for primary and urgent care operations in Hampden, Hampshire and Franklin counties. He led a large and complex transition involving Noble and Wing Hospital practices to Baystate, consolidating three small practices and expanding six high-demand practices, while also managing the planning and implementation of multi-specialty outpatient centers. Greenfield also led long-term process improvement and innovative technology engagements to develop population health management capabilities, and was responsible for building a new academic family medicine residency program.
In his prior role as the administrative director for strategic planning and business development, also with Baystate, Greenfield aligned with community primary care practices to develop a standard model of urgent care delivery and developed a business and financial plan and to support starting operations of two urgent care practices among his many other accomplishments. He also managed the project management office for all projects and activities under federal health care reform while serving as the Director of Program Management at Blue Cross Blue Shield of Massachusetts (BCBSMA).
Greenfield received his bachelor’s degree in economics from Colby College and his MBA with a concentration in strategic management and organizational development from Carroll School of Management at Boston College. In his spare time, he enjoys volunteering as a basketball and soccer coach to youth in the Hampshire region.
