Dec. 15, 2006: The University of Massachusetts Minutemen came up a bit short in the team's quest to win a second NCAA national football championship, losing to a determined Appalachian State squad 28-17.
The Minutemen finished the season 13-2, winning a school-record 12 games in a row during its march to the title game, a winning streak that fueled one of the most successful football seasons in UMass history.
Congratulations, Minutemen. Thanks for the memories.
