Nursing advocacy organization RegisteredNursing.org analyzed 440 online RN-BSN programs in the United States this summer and determined that UMass Boston’s Online RN-BS Program is the 11th best in the country and the top program in Massachusetts. Nursing programs were assessed on several factors which represent how well a program supports students during school, toward licensure, and beyond.
"Our program is unique as students complete five nursing courses that are six credits (for a total of thirty credits), allowing students to master the content over a full semester," said Christine Salvucci, DNP, RN, CNE, the director of UMass Boston's program.
Also, instead of a clinical requirement, students complete a service learning project within their community. The curriculum includes courses such as Nursing Care of Children, Mental Health Nursing, Life Span Growth and Development, and others to give students the knowledge and skills needed to succeed in leadership roles.
UMass Boston’s RN-BS is designed for registered nurses who wish to pursue a baccalaureate degree. Applications to start in the spring semester are accepted through December 15.
