Alumni, faculty and staff now have an opportunity to help provide emergency financial help to students impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic.
Students in need of financial assistance as a result of the coronavirus pandemic may seek relief through the Student Care and Emergency Response Fund (SCERF). Donations to SCERF may be made at minutefund.umass.edu/project/20457.
Even though financial aid covers tuition expenses, students are often left to cover the cost of other personal essentials, such as food, housing, childcare, health care needs or technology for online learning. The current pandemic has placed extra financial pressure on some students as they have suffered a loss of income. These essential needs can be addressed by SCERF.
The fundraising effort is being led by the Office of Advancement in collaboration with Student Affairs and Campus Life.
If you are a student in need or if you’d like to learn more about SCERF and similar resources, contact the Dean of Students Office at doso@umass.edu.
