Libby DeVecchi, former press secretary for Deval Patrick, has joined the University of Massachusetts President's Office as Communications Director. DeVecchi will work with Robert P. Connolly, Associate Vice President for University Relations and Communications, and Dr. J. Keith Motley, Vice President for Business, Marketing and Public Affairs.
DeVecchi previously was the press secretary for Deval Patrick's gubernatorial campaign, joining the campaign in late 2005 and serving as a campaign spokesperson and senior member of Patrick's communications team through the Democratic Caucuses, the State Convention, victory in the Democratic primary and victory in the general election.

Prior to working for Gov. Patrick, DeVecchi managed communications strategy and media relations for corporate, non-profit and political clients across a variety of fields at Rasky/Baerlein Strategic Communications, one of the leading public relations and public affairs firms in the Northeast. Her clients included KeySpan Energy, The Boston Stock Exchange and The Council for Fair School Finance.
DeVecchi, 29, and her husband Matt reside in Arlington and she is active in a number of community and political organizations including the Massachusetts Women's Political Caucus. She is a graduate of Gettysburg College and has a master's degree from Boston University.
